Europcar to offer the new Renault Zero Emission range from 2011

Britain's business car fleets continue reduce their carbon emissions

According to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), Britain’s business car fleets made impressive progress in reducing their carbon emissions last year. The BVRLA’s leasing members, who operate a combined fleet of around 1.6 million cars, saw the average CO2 emissions of vehicles brought on fleet in 2009 fall to 144g/km. This represents a fall of about 4% from the 149.9g/km reported for vehicles added to fleets in 2008 and 9% on the 2007 figure. Smart fortwo cdi maintains top position among the most environmentally friendly cars with a combustion engine

A high level of environmental friendliness is an innate characteristic of the iconic smart fortwo. The diesel model - the smart fortwo cdi - always underlined this claim with carbon dioxide emissions of just 88 grams per kilometre, the lowest figure worldwide for cars with a combustion engine. Adding electric vehicles to a fleet will enable much larger savings than petrol and diesel management policies alone could achieve

According to Petrol Retailers’ Association forecasts, unleaded petrol prices are predicted to reach 123p per litre by the end of 2010. The news will put fuel management back on the agenda for fleet managers under pressure to cut costs.
