Tomorrow (Tuesday June 22) will mark a turning point in UK automotive history when a Vauxhall Ampera E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) undertakes the longest single journey by an electric car on British roads.
The prototype Ampera, which goes on sale in the UK in early 2012, will appropriately be driven in relay by a selection of drivers from Vauxhall’s home in Luton, Bedfordshire to its passenger car plant in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - a journey of more than 170 miles.

Audi is showing an uncompromising purist compact sports car with all-electric drive at the first major auto show of 2010. SEAT debuts low CO2 versions of the recently-revised Altea, Altea XL and Leon at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show. Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has announced plans to manufacture a full hybrid version of its C-segment hatchback, Auris, at its UK-based facility in Burnaston, Derbyshire. Production of Toyota’s first European-built full hybrid will kick-off at Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd (TMUK) in mid-2010.
