Volkswagen's new Touareg opens for ordering in UK Retailers ahead of the first customer deliveries taking place in October. Prices for the new Touareg start at £38,225 for the SE 3.0-litre TDI 240 PS, while the Hybrid model, which goes on sale next month, costs £54,995.

Tomorrow (Tuesday June 22) will mark a turning point in UK automotive history when a Vauxhall Ampera E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) undertakes the longest single journey by an electric car on British roads.
The prototype Ampera, which goes on sale in the UK in early 2012, will appropriately be driven in relay by a selection of drivers from Vauxhall’s home in Luton, Bedfordshire to its passenger car plant in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - a journey of more than 170 miles.

Volkswagen has introduced the first Eos petrol-engined model to feature BlueMotion technologies. The highly efficient 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS BlueMotion Technology Eos model can be ordered, in both S and SE trims, for £20,695 and £21,795 RRP on the road respectively.

Volkswagen has unveiled the new Up! Lite concept, a vehicle which sets new standards in economy and efficiency. Packaged in a body with a coefficient of drag measuring just 0.237, the Up! Lite is capable of seating four adults in comfort yet thanks to its hybrid drivetrain it can travel 115.7 miles on a single gallon of fuel while emitting just 65 g/km of CO2.

Volvo Trucks is now launching an upgrade of the world’s first hybrid refuse truck. The upgraded vehicle is now being released with new components and software to be tested by Veolia Environmental Services in central London.
