MINI: Looking for drivers to test the UK's first electric MINIs

The search is on for 20 drivers to take part in phase two of a trial to test the UK’s first ever electric MINIs. Phase one of the trial is currently underway, the first 20 MINI E pioneers took ownership of their electric MINIs in December 2009 and are due to hand them back in June. A prototype electric version of the Mercedes Vito Taxi has been designed and built by a consortium of British technology companies. Part-funded by the UK Government’s Advantage Niche Vehicle Research & Development Programme, the prototype vehicle meets the demanding requirements of the London Carriage Office and can carry up to six people more than 120 kilometres on a single six hour charge.
