Gordon Murray Design has unveiled the T.27 ultra compact city vehicle, the world’s most efficient electric car. In comparison to other electric cars the T.27 has much lower energy consumption per mile, the Smart EV uses 29% more energy per km, the Mitsubishi iMiEV uses 36% more energy per km, and the Mini-E uses 86% more energy per km, making the T.27 the most efficient electric car by some margin.

The Government’s £43 million incentive programme, which offers buyers of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles up to £5,000 off the purchase prices, was rolled out on January 1st 2011 and so far nine models are eligible for the grant.
According to a new survey by Glass’s, the number of people considering buying a plug-in hybrid or battery electric car as their next vehicle purchase has risen from 9% to 53%, representing a five-fold increase since the same question was last asked in July 2010.

GoGo Electric, London’s first non-membership electric car hire company, says that the bulk of its customers are private motorists living on the outskirts of the city who want to try out electrics as potential ‘early adopters’.

Honda will unveil a higher-powered, sportier Accord Type S at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March. This more powerful variant of Honda’s D-sector model uses the acclaimed 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, like the standard Accord, but thanks to a revised turbo-charger, cylinder head and larger intercooler, produces 180PS at 4000rpm, a 30PS increase on the standard model with the peak power coming at the same rpm.
