Following Alistair Darling’s Pre-Budget Report, company car users are now able to pre-order their Citroën C-ZERO safe in the knowledge that, when it is delivered next year, it will be exempt from company car tax. Customers will also benefit from exceptionally low running costs with C-ZERO achieving a range of around 130km (80miles), over a standard combined cycle, from a single charge using a domestic power supply.

The first stage of a Government-supported UK-wide project to trial electric and ultra low emission vehicles has begun in the West Midlands. The keys to 25 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) were given to independent drivers – including automotive expert Quentin Willson – to test over the next 12 months by the CABLED (Coventry and Birmingham Low Emission Vehicle Demonstrators) consortium in Centenary Square, Birmingham.

Citroën has introduced two new greener power-plants in the C5 range. A number of other model range changes are also implemented with immediate effect.
The key improvements are:
* A new BMW co-developed 1.6i 16V THP 155hp petrol engine has replaced the out-going 2.0i 16V 143hp unit. This Euro V engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and is available in the VTR+ NAV Saloon.
* A new 2.0HDi 16V 160hp diesel has replaced the 2.0HDi 16V 140hp and the 2.2HDi 16V 173hp engines. Also... [more]
Following years of product development and the application of the very latest power electronics, Controlled Power Technologies’s electric supercharger known as VTES or Variable Torque Enhancement System has been incorporated in a major project by engine developer AVL and will also feature in the Ricardo-led £3m ‘HyBoost’ programme announced by the Technology Strategy Board on 9 September 2009. Both projects are seeking to maximise powertrain efficiency at the lowest possible cost.
