Bosch will showcase its pioneering split-axle hybrid technology in this year’s RAC Future Car Challenge with the entry of a Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 – the world’s first diesel hybrid production car. The car will join other eco-friendly vehicles in the annual motoring contest on Saturday 5th November, driving from Brighton to London. BVRLA: Car manufacturers are more realistic on electric vehicles pricing

According to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), just 812 buyers have taken up the Government’s £5000 Plug-In-Car Grant so far this year, suggesting that electric vehicles are still too expensive for most consumer and fleet buyers. “More than a dozen new electric and hybrid vehicles are set to hit the UK market over the next year, but most of them will be decorating showrooms unless manufacturers are more realistic on pricing,” said BVRLA chief executive... BMW: Looking for drivers to test the UK's first electric MINIs

The search is on for 20 drivers to take part in phase two of a trial to test the UK’s first ever electric MINIs. Phase one of the trial is currently underway, the first 20 MINI E pioneers took ownership of their electric MINIs in December 2009 and are due to hand them back in June. People living in a triangular geographical area between Andover, Oxford and West London will be able to take part in the project. British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association BVRLA: Britain's business car fleets continue reduce their carbon emissions

According to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), Britain’s business car fleets made impressive progress in reducing their carbon emissions last year. The BVRLA’s leasing members, who operate a combined fleet of around 1.6 million cars, saw the average CO2 emissions of vehicles brought on fleet in 2009 fall to 144g/km. British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association BVRLA: Government supports early adopters of electric vehicles

In the Pre-Budget Report, Chancellor Alistair Darling announced that he would be exempting electric cars from company car tax from April 2010 for five years, with electric vans also benefiting from van benefit charge exemption over the same period. He also announced the introduction of a 100% first-year allowance for companies purchasing electric vans, enabling them to offset the cost of buying one of these vehicles against their corporation tax bill in year one. BMW: New greener engines for the Citroën C5 range

Citroën has introduced two new greener power-plants in the C5 range. A number of other model range changes are also implemented with immediate effect. The key improvements are: * A new BMW co-developed 1.6i 16V THP 155hp petrol engine has replaced the out-going 2.0i 16V 143hp unit. This Euro V engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and is available in the VTR+ NAV Saloon. * A new 2.0HDi 16V 160hp diesel has replaced the 2.0HDi 16V 140hp and the 2.2HDi 16V 173hp engines.
